Confidentiality

Trust is Vital In Every Relationship

Becoming the best mentor or role model to your mentee

KVINC SEP 26, 2022 Post Comments

When learning new things about new people, it is essential that you have confidentiality. The promise of confidentiality allows a sense of trust between the mentor and mentee to develop over time. Both parties need to develop the assurance they can speak freely and sometimes divulge personal or private information without worrying that what they say will soon be common knowledge.

Both parties should keep whatever they share with each other confidential. The importance of confidentiality should be discussed at the beginning of a new mentor/mentee relationship so there is a clear understanding of how important it is. When confidentiality is discussed and understood, both parties will know the boundaries and not feel betrayed.

Trust is often linked to being open and respecting each person's views and being willing to be vulnerable with each other. Without trust the relationship can become tense and unproductive.
